Privacy on this site
This is a publication, not a product. There is no account to create, no form to submit and nothing here that asks who you are. This page states what does happen when a page loads, because a few third parties are involved and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
What this site collects
Nothing directly. There is no analytics script, no advertising tag, no session cookie, no local storage and no fingerprinting of any kind in the pages of this site. No page asks for a name, an email address or a wallet address, and there is no form anywhere that would accept one.
The consequence is that the desk cannot tell you how many people read a page or where they came from, because it does not know. That is a trade the desk is content with.
Server logs
The hosting provider records ordinary web server access logs, as essentially every web server does. These typically include an IP address, a timestamp, the path requested, a referrer if the browser sent one and a user agent string. They are a by-product of serving pages over HTTP rather than a data collection exercise, and the desk does not build profiles from them or combine them with anything else.
Third parties that receive a request
Loading a page here causes your browser to fetch a small number of files from other hosts. Those hosts see the request, which means they see your IP address and user agent, in the same way any server does when a browser asks it for a file.
- A content delivery network serving the Bootstrap stylesheet and JavaScript bundle used for the page grid and the mobile navigation panel.
- An icon font host serving the small interface icons used on buttons and navigation.
- A web font host serving the three typefaces this site is set in.
- The hosting provider serving every page, image and stylesheet that belongs to this domain.
Each of those parties operates under its own privacy terms, which the desk neither controls nor can vary on your behalf. If you would rather not make those requests, a content blocker will prevent them and the site will remain readable, if plainer.
Outbound links
Some pages link to other sites, including protocol documentation, block explorers and one commercial console. Following a link is a request to that site and everything after the click is governed by their terms rather than by this page. Links here carry no tracking parameters, no redirect hops and no shortened URLs; the destination in the address bar is the destination.
If you write to the desk, the message and the address it came from are held in an ordinary mailbox for as long as it is useful to hold them. That is it. Nothing is added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list. Nothing is passed to anybody else. If you would like a message deleted, ask and it will be.
Cookies
This site sets none. Not for analytics, not for preferences, not for consent to the cookies it does not set. A third-party host could in principle set one when serving a file, and the desk has no ability to inspect or control that, which is stated here rather than glossed over.
Children
This site is written for adults reading about market mechanics and is not directed at children. Nothing here is designed to appeal to them and no data is collected from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this page
If the site ever starts collecting something, this page will say so before it does, and the change will be described plainly rather than folded into a longer document. The current position is the simple one: a publication that serves text and does not want to know who is reading it.
